I'm surprised this game has been rated as positively as it has been. It's very ugly and the interface isn't intuitive at all. The tutorial isn't very helpful. Luckily I got this at a discount, if I had paid full price I would have felt completely ripped off.. The interface is bad. The tutorial doesn't really tell you anything. I'm not asking much graphics-wise, but you can't even tell what some things are supposed to be - I mean, I'm not looking for GTA5 but I should at least expect that the graphics be informative and not confusing.Like I'm trying to build wicker baskets, which I believe are supposed to improve the infrastructure of the town in some way. Honestly I'm not 100% sure what they do, but they're the only thing I have the resources to build so I'll build them. Wicker baskets should need wood. Is that wood, that it's trying to tell me I need? If so, why does the wood required for wicker baskets look different from the wood for anything else? And why does my character which has been assigned to build wicker baskets not appear to be doing anything? Is it because I need another resource besides wood? It is because its a slow process? There's no completion bar so who knows if she's waiting on something, working, or stuck. It gives me a list of buildings I can construct, but there's no mouseover or description that tells me what they do. What the hell is a hermit's hut? Some kind of research facility? What I am supposed to infer from that name if there's no description? And why does the character I put there not do anything? You get the idea. Everything is like this. And it's not like Dwarf Fortress where there's this obvious complexity and depth which pulls you in and makes you want to stick around and learn it. You want me to read a wiki to get any idea how to play? Then you damn sure need to make the game interesting looking first. This looks like a mobile game that is very poorly documented. I wish I'd played this a bit when I first got it, so I'd still be in the refund window. I was way too trusting of the reviews.I might come back in 6 months and see if there's a decent tutorial or descriptions for things - or barring that if the game looks interesting enough to make me read a wiki before playing it. I'm not optimistic on either count.***EDIT: Wait, this costs nearly $20?!? That's Mount and Blade when it was new money! That's a lot more than I paid for Darkest Dungeon when it was late EA! That's the same price as GTA4!I did not pay $20 for Settlements, did I? Since I bought this some time ago, I'm just gonna tell myself that I got it on a big sale. I won't be able to sleep tonight if I thought I paid anything over $6 for this title. One thing I can 100% tell you is that this game is not worth anywhere near $20.
